Tano is the founder/director of International Buddhist Film Festival and Buddhist Film Foundation and is now launching Buddhist Film Channel , the first independent streaming platform for the extensive and diverse international Buddhist and mindfulness cinema.

Filmmaker and photographer Gaetano Kazuo Maida (Tano) has served as executive director and chief programmer of Buddhist Film Foundation (link) since its founding in 2000, where he designed and initiated its International Buddhist Film Festival and the Festival Media distribution service. He was a founding director of the U.S. Buddhist quarterly Tricycle, and he was producer/director of the Ben Kingsley-narrated Peace Is Every Step (trailer), the first film profile of Vietnamese Zen teacher and author, Thich Nhat Hanh. A New York City native, he has lived with his wife Ayelet in the San Francisco Bay area for the past thirty years, where they are principals of book packaging firm A/M Studios.
