Anne Waldman, Fugitive Poet (at large)
Poet, iconoclast, and active member of the “Outrider” experimental poetry community. Anne will perform a recently published work, “The Songs of the Sons & Daughters of Buddha," share her ideas and energize us.
Anne began Buddhist studies in the early 1970's with renowned Tibetan Lama, Trungpa Rinpoche and founded the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics at the Naropa Institute, in Boulder, Colorado.
She self-describes as a cultural activist, attributing the birth of her son, Ambrose Bye, as an "inspiring turning point," and in 1982, became deeply committed to global sustainability.
Throughout her career, Anne has collaborated, and produced works with friends, Allen Ginsberg, Bob Dylan, Elizabeth Murray, Richard Tuttle, Meredith Monk, George Schneeman, Donna Dennis, Pat Steir; musicians Don Cherry, Laurie Anderson, and Steve Lacy; dancer Douglas Dunn; filmmaker and husband Ed Bowes; and her son, musician/composer Ambrose Bye.
Anne was recently featured in 2019 film, ROLLING THUNDER, a "mocumentary" by director, Martin Scorsese.
